Artist Biography
Roberto Palermo, born in Belvedere Marittimo, Cosenza, Italy, on March 15, 1976, is an accordionist, composer and performer whose artistic journey combines strong classical roots, contemporary research and a deep sensitivity for jazz.
Since 2014 he has been based in Oslo, Norway, where he continues to develop his international musical career through concerts, collaborations and original artistic productions.
His encounter with music began at an early age. At eleven, he started studying accordion with Maestro Lucio Cortese, taking part in numerous national and international competitions. Alongside his classical training, he soon developed a strong attraction to jazz, collaborating with the Imperfect Jazz Quartet together with drummer Manolito Cortese.
In 2002, he began studies at the Voglia D’Arte Institute with Maestro Renzo Ruggieri, deepening his exploration of jazz language and contemporary accordion expression. Masterclasses with Richard Galliano, Frédéric Deschamps and Renzo Ruggieri further enriched his artistic vision and interpretative technique.
Today, his musical language moves freely between classical music, jazz, tango, Mediterranean music, world music, cinematic atmospheres and experimentation.
Mediterranima
Among the most representative projects of Roberto Palermo’s artistic maturity is the album Mediterranima, a sonic journey through memory, Mediterranean culture, jazz language, folk influences and contemporary freedom.
The project reflects an emotional and cinematic artistic universe where the accordion becomes a modern and universal voice capable of crossing genres and cultures. Mediterranima has been presented internationally through concerts and collaborations in Norway, Latvia and Italy.

Alongside his concert activity, Roberto Palermo has developed an intense career in theatre and cinema, composing original works and performing in numerous productions.
His theatrical credits include performances at Teatro Valle, Teatro dell’Orologio, Teatro Argot, Teatro Cometa Off, Teatro della Versiliana and international productions such as Hakkebakkeskogen.
